U-shin Acupuncture

Practitioner in acupuncture and moxibustion

Hayato Suzuki

U-shin Acupuncture offers acupuncture, moxibustion, and massage therapy, which are gentle to your body for the treatment of stiffness in shoulders, backache, neuralgia, and sport-related disorders. We even offer child acupuncture and the rehabilitation for cerebral vascular disorders.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. Moxibustion has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years; in fact, the actual Chinese character for acupuncture, translated literally, means "acupuncture-moxibustion." The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.

Precaution Statement

We ask for your cooperation in carefully observing the following precautions if you are going to receive acupuncture and moxibustion.

Please come to the clinic at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time, have a seat and wait for the treatment.

To check your pulse.

Please refrain from drinking coffee or tea before the treatment.

To check the condition of your tongue.

Please refrain from drinking alcohol for one day after the treatment.

If you drink alcohol right after the treatment, it may contribute to ineffective treatment or even worsen the symptom.

Please spend the day as quietly and calmly as possible after the treatment.

Although it is rare, you may encounter the cleansing reaction after the treatment. You may experience fatigue, drowsiness, a hot flush, fever or other symptoms. But these reactions are signs that the treatment is working and that your body is working to eliminate built-up waste products through blood stream. You can be assured that the symptoms are only temporary.

Vision and Commitment
I

decided to become a practitioner in acupuncture and moxibustion out of impure motives.
I was just looking for the way to keep working actively as long as I want without worrying about the retirement age which would come in 20 years if I stayed at the company.
But now I feel the joy of working with my clients. I try my best to improve the symptoms of my clients every day so that they can enjoy their lives without pain.

How do acupuncture and moxibustion work?
The studies and researches about the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion treatments have been actively carried out by the research institutes, the medical institutes, and the universities and the colleges with the school of acupuncture and moxibustion all over Japan.
Holistically、it is thought that acupuncture and/or moxibustion stimulate autonomic nerve system, endocrine system, immune system and others, and as a result, it relaxes central and reflex muscle tension and improves blood and lymphatic flow. Furthermore, it works on human homeostatic (actions to recover from diseases naturally).
In addition, there are various theories about the reasons for the sedating effects which have been recognized since ancient times.

1. Gate Control…The stimulation by needles suppresses the pain at the spinal cord.

2. Endorphin…The stimulation by needles sets off disengagement of morphine-like pain-relief substance, which suppresses the pain.

3. Blocking effects of terminal nerve…The stimulation by needles blocks the impulse of pain.

4. Painkilling effect by elevating pain threshold caused by the stimulation of an acupuncture point.

5. Improvement of blood circulation…It relieves muscle tension and improves blood circulation.

Messages from the clients

A homemaker, 72 years old

Maybe because of my age, my knees started hurting in the past several years. It became difficult for me to go shopping on foot.
I happened to drop in at the Osteopathic clinic where Suzuki Sensei worked this spring.
When I explained to him about my hard condition, he was very gentle to me and said, “Everything is going to be all right. Let me help you get better little by little.”

I received both acupuncture treatment and massage.
After three sessions, I found it easier to stand up from the chair or to go up and down the stairs.

I still go to the clinic once a week and now I have little pain in my knees.

I’m counting on you, Suzuki Sensei!

A ballerina, 21 years old

Suzuki Sensei, congratulations on opening your own clinic!
I’ve been learning classic ballet since I was an elementary student.

Suzuki Sensei is the one who maintains my body.
It was for the pain in my ankle when I received the first acupuncture treatment.

To my surprise, I could dance after a few treatments.
Sensei is a very strict practitioner who always checks the condition of my body before the treatment. He says, “I’m going to check whether you take good care of yourself every day.” (And his stretching therapy is very painful!)
But thanks to Suzuki Sensei, I can devote myself in practicing ballet without any injuries or pains.
Thank you so much, Sensei!

An office worker, 50 years old

It was the leaflet of the clinic in my post which brought me to Suzuki Sensei.
I hurt my back last fall and nothing really worked to ease the pain. So I went to the clinic where Suzuki Sensei worked.
Although it was the very first time for me to receive acupuncture treatment, I tried it because I trusted his words, “The acupuncture treatment works better with your condition.”
Now I can say, “Acupuncture hurts but works.”
I even ask Suzuki Sensei to treat me with acupuncture.

I said to Sensei, “It really feels good when the needles get in my skin.” Sensei said, “You are interesting.”
I’m counting on you even after you open your own clinic, Sensei!
